Ascender Corp. Releases 150 Fonts from 5 New Type Foundries

Elk Grove Village, IL (PRWEB) December 1, 2010

Ascender Corporation, a leading provider of advanced font products, today announced font distribution agreements with five distinctive type foundries located around the globe. The addition of over 150 new fonts provides Ascender's customers with a wide variety of superbly crafted text, display and script fonts. The fonts are available in the popular TrueType and OpenType font formats, and are available for immediate download at http://www.AscenderFonts.com. These new fonts are also available for licensing by software developers and hardware manufacturers to include with their products.

The type foundries who licensed fonts to Ascender include Bean & Morris, Borges Lettering, Laura Worthington, Stereotypes and Type Associates.

Bean & Morris Fonts is a collaboration of two of the most prolific personalities in Australian lettering, logo design and typography: Russell Bean and Keith Morris. The Bean & Morris font collection features a creative range of typefaces including text, display and script fonts.

Borges Lettering features the typefaces and lettering design of Charles Borges de Oliveira, a talented lettering artist and graphic designer with a delightful repertoire of handwriting script fonts.

Laura Worthington has been in the type design field since 1997 and her passion for type is still huge. Laura will draw hundreds of letters as she creates her typefaces and then she develops those characters into alternate versions which results in most of her fonts being packed full of OpenType features such as alternates, ligatures and swashes.

Stereotypes is a Germany-based type foundry showcasing a range of new fonts designed by Sascha Timplan. The expression "Stereotypes" is about the love of typography and music--it has nothing to do with clich? ideas!

Type Associates is an Australian-based typographic services group formed in 1993. The Type Associates font collection features high quality typefaces created by Russell Bean and other talented type designers with an emphasis on practical, enduring type designs.

Ascender is also proud to offer these fonts to its broad range of OEM/ISV customers including video game and Blu-ray publishers, software developers, web server application developers, and hardware manufacturers.

Extensis Releases FREE Plug-in for Designing with Web Fonts in Adobe Photoshop

Portland, OR (PRWEB) September 13, 2011

Designing with web fonts in their offline workflow has been a stumbling block for web designers around the globe. Today, Extensis, a leading provider of font management solutions, is ending this conundrum with the release of their new Web Font Plug-in. Designed to work inside Adobe Photoshop, Extensis? Web Font Plug-in provides web designers with free access to thousands of WebINK fonts, sourced from world-renowned foundries, for use in their web designs.

For the vast majority of web designers, the creative process begins on the desktop in Adobe Photoshop, where designers create their initial mock-ups, and then quickly moves to the web for final production.

?Since most fonts are licensed based on where they will be used?on the desktop or on the web?their traditional workflow requires that designers own two separate licenses for the same font to be license compliant,? says Thomas Phinney, Extensis? Senior Product Manager for Fonts and Typography. ?Our Web Font Plug-in frees web designers from needing to license desktop fonts to do mockups of their web site designs.?

Up to now, web designers have been using inconvenient workarounds to accomplish their task: either by designing directly in CSS code or by choosing a ?close enough? alternative that is already available on their desktop. Both are imprecise, stop-gap options. Professional web designers need the same font throughout the design process: from mock-up all the way through web delivery.

Today, Extensis is streamlining the web design process with its new Web Font Plug-in for Photoshop, which gives designers the freedom to design offline, find the font that best meets their design needs, and then license the font when they are ready to go live on the web. Users simply activate a free web font account on Extensis WebINK and the Web Font Plug-in provides free use of WebINK fonts?from foundries like Optimo, Our Type, and Dalton Maag?for mocking up web site content.

Chris Meyer, Extensis? Senior Product Manager for Font Solutions, noted, ?Having access to web fonts in the design process has been a hot topic in the design community. Finally, designers can start the creative process using the fonts they will ultimately use in their web production. We are thrilled to unveil a solution that closes the creative loop and opens the door for more experimentation.?

Extensis, in cooperation with HOW Design, will offer a free educational Webcast on September 22: Designing with Web fonts in Photoshop. To Register visit: http://www.extensis.com/webfontpluginwebcast
